This month, we are thrilled to present a focused session on Editing and Revision, led by our esteemed member Merrilyn Williams. This meeting is designed to equip local authors with the essential skills and techniques needed to refine and polish their manuscripts.
BWG June 15 Meeting: Autoethnography
We are excited to announce that this month's meeting will feature a special presentation by one of our own, Emily LaVergne. Emily will be discussing her work with Autoethnography, a unique and introspective research method that combines autobiographical storytelling with ethnographic analysis.
Bayou Writers' Group Meeting: May 18, 2024
Join us for the Bayou Writers' Group May meeting, where we'll be hosting a special writers' show and tell event. This is your chance to share your knowledge and experiences with fellow writers in the group!
Each member who wishes to participate will have 10-15 minutes to share something they've learned, whether it's about querying an agent, filing a FOIA, or any other valuable insight related to the writing and publishing process.
After each presentation, we'll open the floor for discussion, allowing everyone to ask questions, share their own experiences, and dive deeper into the topics. It's an opportunity to learn, connect, and grow as writers together. Don't miss out on this interactive and informative meeting!
Bayou Writers' Group Meeting: Scriptwriting
Julia Rodriguez, a Southeast Texas creator, blends worlds through art and imagination. She's the Resource Development and Marketing Director at Southeast Texas Stages, and a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a BA in Cinematography. Since 2017, she's contributed her skills to local theatre as a volunteer, crew member, actor, and director of three black box productions: "Intimate Apparel" (2019), "Pride and Prejudice" (2022), "Chicken and Biscuits" (2023). Her latest show, "Grand Horizons," premieres on April 4th. Julia is also a talented script doctor, helping writers polish their stories, with some going on to create award-winning scripts and films. Passionate about bringing arts to the community, she's involved in various civic services and artistic pursuits, including podcasting, writing, and collage art. Forever in her Reputation era, she loves PSLs any time of year and is obsessed with Ncuti Gatwa as the new Doctor.
Bayou Writers' Group Meeting: Write In & Critiquing
